This presentation reexamines the role of Courts and decision-makers (i.e.,agents, representatives, and guardians) when an individual reaches the “end of life.” The seminar will evaluate what constitutes the end-of-life process itself and what the Court’s involvement is, and perhaps should be, in light of the standards set forth in Fiore, DLH, and the statutory scheme of the PEF Code. Other issues such as inartfully drafted or unclear advanced health directives and conflicts among family members will also be addressed.
